There is satisfaction in growing your own stuff

Let me start by saying that we are not good farmers at home. We are engineers...

We can grow some stuff like lemons and mangos (from trees that came with the house when we bought it), and we planted some bushes that give leafs for tea and cooking.

But some time ago my wife planted "something" that now looks like the picture above. And today for the first time we took one of these red peppers and used it in a stew that is currently in its 3rd hour of cooking (out of 7).

It felt really good to use it, not because we do not have red pepper powder in one of the drawers, but because we grew it ourselves.

In many conferences I used to ask my audience to lift their hands if they have kids.

Then I followed up by asking these people with their hands up to keep them up if they thought any of their kids were ugly. Only once or twice a "smart-ass" keep his hand up (always a male participant!).

The interesting part was then asking everyone in the room if they have friends or family who have ugly kids, and seeing how almost everyone raised their hands... Only to realize that we all see ugly kids around us, but non of us is able to see our own kids as ugly.

We are always proud parents, of our kids, or our pets, our companies, even of the red peppers growing almost by chance in our garden.
