What I missed

Today I woke up at 3:00 am.

Sounds terrible? Actually it is not.

Last night we went to sleep early, by 9 we were in bed, as we were really tired, and by 10 I was asleep - I think everyone at home was.

And so, by 3, I was awake.

I do not sleep more than 5 or 6 hours each night. I got used to it. I think that in the last years the most I have slept was 8 hours during one night, and I was really really busted from the day before.

Waking up early is something I used to do very often. I used to go running and so I would wake up at 4:45. But then I got hurt.

When I need to fly to Europe, I usually wake up at 2:00 or 2:30 or 3:00. In order to catch the morning flights.

Most times, I put an alarm but wake up before it rings.

When I am abroad, specially in the US or Japan, I tend to wake up early. Like really early. Sometimes I start by day by 1:00 AM and work all the morning in the hotel before heading out to meetings and then flights at night.

I could say that I like that, but it would be an understatement. I actually love that. I even miss that quite a lot.

The feeling of waking up early, knowing you have many hours to catch up before the world even starts gives me a feeling of calmness. It let's me concentrate and do work without feeling the pressure of the hours pilling up. I know it sounds crazy, and maybe it is, but I am just calling it as I feel it.

Waking up early and getting an early start. Finishing stuff early in order to feel like before the sun gets up I already accomplished things in the day. That is what I like and what I missed all these months.

I think I will get back to going to sleep earlier and getting up early.
